In the spirit of "Count Me In"

Thanks to support from Fairholme Disability Support Group, Lotterywest and the Disability Services Commission, The Ride took to the road in 2013 on a State-wide screening tour, to promote road safety and help the WA community to better understand the impact of living with a disability.

Starting on 14th October in Coorow and finishing on 6th December in South Perth, the inspirational documentary screened in a total of 45 towns across WA, giving audiences the opportunity to talk to the film’s Executive Producer (Jim Cairns) who is also one of the men featured in the film, and to see first hand the stark reality of life after a serious accident.  Jim was accompanied by Sandra Cook, Director and Producer of The Ride.

Educating people on the importance of road safety and dispelling the stigma associated with ‘being disabled’, The Ride inspires both young and old, whilst advocating the principles of ‘Count Me In: Disability Future Directions’. This State Government initiative aimed to create a society where all people live in welcoming communities that facilitate citizenship, friendship, mutual support and a fair go for all.

As people with and without disability get to know and understand each other, the exclusion that comes from a sense of difference will fall away

While confronting at times, The Ride is suitable for children, though Parental Guidance is recommended.
